In her documentary „Displaced“ Jewish director Sharon Ryba-Kahn works through her family history – and her anger at how non-Jewish Germans deal with their own past.

„Die Würde des Menschen ist Abschiebbar“. The book combines political report and science. In the context of the political activism of the authors*innen against the deportation prisons in Büren and Darmstadt texts developed to detention conditions, court files, isolation detention as well as empiric reports, portraits and discussions with detainees about their committee experiences in Germany and their countries of origin.
The book begins with a historical classification of the institution of detention pending deportation and the current legal framework. Thus, it also serves as an introduction to the topic of detention pending deportation. It answers the questions: What is and was detention pending deportation? Who is affected by it? What is the institutional process of detention pending deportation?
Sebastian Nitschke will read short passages from the book and discuss them with the audience afterwards. He is a social worker and was involved in “Community for all – Solidary community instead of deportation prisons” in Darmstadt from 2017 to 2020.
