Europe Week 22

Our Europe Week will take place this year from 09 to 13 May. Together with the Frankfurt-Slubice Cooperation Center and the city of Frankfurt (Oder), the university groups and initiatives of the university we offer educational and cultural events. Together we want to broaden our knowledge about Europe, shed light on different points of view and also critical perspectives. Everyone is welcome, no matter if you are a student or not. We are looking forward to seeing you!

Monday (09.05.)

On Europe Day, which has taken place every year since 1986 on 9 May, you will learn more about Europe from 10.30 am until 2 pm in the GD foyer at the information booths of our university groups and initiatives. You will also be invited to share your thoughts on Europe on pinboards, by asking questions such as “What does Europe mean to me?“ and more.

On 11 May 2022, together with the Frankfurt-Słubice Cooperation Centre, we are organising a panel discussion with the topic “EU from a German and Polish perspective”. From 6 to 8 p.m., we will discuss Germany, Poland and Europe from different perspectives with German and Polish politicians, academics and activists. The event will take place in the Senate Hall of the University (HG 109) and will be simultaneously translated into German, Polish and English. In the second part of the panel discussion, you are invited to ask questions and discuss with European Parliament member Helmut Scholz, member of the Zielona Góra city council Tomasz Nesterowicz, Dr. Sonja Priebus and Prof. Dr. Dagmara Jajeśniak-Quast from the EUV and others, so come along!

From 4pm until 6.30pm in Blok O we want to talk with Ukrainian students and actors from the university and the twin city about the current situation in Ukraine and in the twin city, as well as about possibilities to get involved.

Friday  (13.05.)

The Poetry Slam will be transformed into a mini short film evening!

During the mini film night, you will be able to watch European short films that highlight Europe from different perspectives and address current important issues, such as the situation of refugees in Europe. After the screening of the films, you will have the opportunity to discuss these topics and share your perspectives with other visitors.
